An election is not only about choosing a leader. It is about building institutions, protecting the vote, demanding accountability, and respecting the will of the Haitian people.
We publish fewer sections with complete, crawlable content first. Interactive tools that are not ready are labeled Coming Soon instead of empty interfaces.
Since the late twentieth century, Haiti has held presidential and legislative contests that often ended in disputes, delayed results, low turnout, or interrupted mandates. Patterns include weak electoral administration, contested voter lists, insecurity around polling, and limited public trust in outcomes.
A fuller timeline with primary-source citations for each major election cycle is in preparation. Until that timeline ships, treat the points below as an editorial overview, not a complete chronology.

Credible elections need security, a trusted voter register, independent administration, transparent results, and space for peaceful competition. When those conditions are incomplete, ballots alone rarely produce stable governance.
